Cream-and-white enamel gives the small Avril bowl a quiet palette beneath its lively, flower-like rim. The food-safe aluminum-alloy form holds a modest serving of nuts, sweets or a small accompaniment, with a 7.5-inch width that fits easily beside drinks. Its sculptural outline supplies interest without a printed pattern inside the bowl.

“I think small serving pieces are often the ones that make a gathering feel most comfortable. A bowl placed within easy reach, with just enough of something good, is a lovely way to make people feel expected.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Cuban-born designer Beatriz Ball began working with metal artisans outside Mexico City in 1991. Her signature metalware is still made one piece at a time in the brand’s own foundry in Mexico: sand casting gives the forms their character, and successive hand-polishing stages bring out the alloy’s silvery luster. More than twelve pairs of hands take part in the making. The appeal is that combination of expressive shape and useful purpose, with the warmth of handwork and none of silver’s routine tarnish polishing.

Encanto adds color to the cast-metal tradition: enamel and gold-tone details emphasize the curves and edges, making the form as much a part of the table as the food it holds.
