Steampunk ~ Gothic  ~ Victorian Jewellery Design

Sterling Filled Victorian Antique or Reproduction work from original mold, Circa 1840 -1940. Vintage clockworks and mechanisms. Each unique and handcrafted in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Heliopolis (City of the Sun) was a one of the oldest major cities of ancient Egypt. It was the capital of the Heliopolite or 13th Nome (province or district) of Lower Egypt and a major religious centre.

In ancient Egypt, the Scarab Beetle was a highly significant symbolic representation of the divine manifestation of the morning sun. The scarab has ties to themes of manifestation and growth, and scarabs have been found all across Egypt which originate from many different periods in Egyptian history.

Each creation may vary slightly based on the original art glass pieces used.
The Glass Cabochons are etched with the Scarab motif and capture the colour of various gemstones

Bracelet is 20mm (1.375in) wide and 176mm (7 in) long; fits a medium wrist.

Artist /Designer/Alchemist Marina Smith has been creating for over 30 years achieving a fine level of craftsmanship and embracing many techniques. Her current work embodies a Victorian Retro-Futurism that is whimsical, lovely and unique. She is one of a handful of artisans working in this genre using high quality materials such as sterling silver filled pieces as opposed to base metals alone.

Each creation has a story to tell and all of her works are one of a kind and unique. Using actual vintage mechanisms and time pieces dating anywhere from 1815 to 1940 adds a playful mechanical element to the designs creating an air of illusion and magic. Inner gears and ornate script exposed to the eye reveal the workmanship of a bygone era. Pride was still taken in each handcrafted component. Many of the pressed pieces used are still stamped from original molds created from the early 1800s to 1940s. Sterling fill is done in the old style giving each item a heavier silver surface than modern day counterparts making them far more durable.
